The 3D Mural Competition produced best results. Destinations in the form of Visual Arts as the GSCNSAT perimeter fence came alive with the mural paintings. Special thanks to the main partner of the event “Davies Paints” for all the paints used during the competition. To maximize the beautiful visual art forms, it will be utilized as month covers of our proposed 2017 calendar promo mats.
The Tourism Education (Quiz Bee) intended for the public elementary level pupils also gained positive reviews. Students now are aware of the tourism concerns of the city.
The Tourism Industry Expo, where exhibit booths were displayed by association/organization entry, occupied the Veranza atrium of varied tourism services offered by each participating association/organization. Entries were grouped per sector, such as the Food, the Travel & Tours, the Eco Destination, the Extreme Adventure Groups, the Triatlon Sports Provider, A Fashion Company and the School-based entry. A special entry from the City of Tacurong, featuring their Baras Bird Sanctuary emerged as the sole entry from other LGUs of the region.
The Tourism Industry Showcase covers Tourism and HRM Schools in the city , giving the schools a venue for their school programs and other tourism activities daily during the WTD week.
The Site Development Competition – was the only event of the NTW that was not realized. No competition occurred, as the expected number of entries did not reach the required number. Only two (2) entries were submitted, thus we suspended the competition, and only gave consolation prizes to the two entries that submitted.
The Regional Tourism Summit, was a 50-50 sharing between our office and DOT XII. We took charge of venue preparation, selection and arrangement, food for 100 pax, and closing deals with the caterer and KCC management. We also took charge of Airport Reception of the speakers, tours and tokens. We were also in charge of the Speakers honorarium, but we were not able to process it due to late confirmation of speakers.
DOT XII took charge of all the Speakers of the Summit, including their food, accommodation, air fares, inland transportation and additional food for 100 pax, to cater to regional participants.
The closing ceremonies was spent more on the awarding of all the competitions of the NTW, as well as acknowledging the support of all stakeholders of the industry, especially the Veranza Mall of Gensan, official venue of NTW 2016, for free.
The event was highlighted by the Induction of the new set of Officers of the General Santos City Food and Beverage Association (GEFBA) with Atty. Macario Macaldo as the Inducting Officer. Engr.
